AEROSAN HUB
The Aerosan HUB is a user-centered, revenue-generating public toilet enterprise that is proven to benefit the community.
THE PROBLEM
There are not enough public toilet facilities to meet the needs of the urban population in Nepal. Also, existing toilets are in bad condition, not properly cleaned or maintained, and often un-usable, especially for women. Moreover, toilet waste is not treated before being discharged into nearby water bodies. To address these issues, Aerosan established a business that provides public sanitation facilities to the local community in a socially equitable and environmentally sustainable manner.

OUR Pilot
Aerosan’s HUB pilot launched in March 2018 at Ratna Park in Kathmandu, successfully demonstrated the viability of the business model and HUB design and operations servicing 1,500-2,000 toilet customers a day. The pilot consisted of three major interventions: a biogas plant, gender-friendly renovations, and a cleaning compliance program. The results have been extraordinary.
